The Great Spangled Fritillary

Each year I see more and more butterflies. This year, I noticed several orange and black butterflies frequenting the lavender plants. The butterfly is on the small side, about two and half inches across.

It's difficult to get an in-focus photo of a butterfly because they fly in a zig-zag, hard-to-predict pattern. I used an artistic filter to process my blurry photo.
